Big Nedbank outage

Nedbank appears to be experiencing a service outage, with customers reporting issues with its online and mobile banking platforms.
Reports of issues with the bank’s services started climbing on Downdetector.co.za from around 07:00 on Monday, 23 September 2024.
Accessing the Nedbank Money app on iOS presents an error message that says, “Something went wrong on our side”. This appears before users are taken to the login page.
It recommends that customers contact the Everyday banking line by calling +27 80 055 511 or emailing [email protected].
Nedbank customers have also taken to social media to ask the bank about the issues.
“Please sort this online issue fast, fast, our lives have literally stopped yho,” one user posted on X (formerly Twitter).
“App not working, what is going on guys?” another asked.
Another post suggests that even Nedbank employees in-branch are unable to log into the bank’s systems.
The bank has been active in responding to queries on social media.
In one post, Nedbank said it had identified the cause of the issues when responding to various complaints.
“Please accept our sincere apologies. Once our teams have identified the issue, we’ll update you on the incident once a fix is deployed,” it said.
In another post, it added that its digital channels are temporarily unavailable, and its technicians are working to resolve the issues as soon as possible.
MyBroadband contacted Nedbank for feedback about the outage.
“We know that Nedbank clients are experiencing difficulty logging onto our digital channels. Our team is working hard to restore these services as quickly as possible,” it said.
Update — 10:00
Users started reporting that they were able to access Nedbank’s digital banking platforms again from around 10:00 on Monday, 23 September 2024.
Accessing the Nedbank Money app on iOS confirms this, with customers now able to log in and transact on the app.
