2025 MyBroadband Awards — Afrihost wins big

Afrihost has won twice at the prestigious 2025 MyBroadband Awards, being crowned 2025 ISP of the Year and 2025 Hosting Provider of the Year.
The annual MyBroadband Awards are given out to the most successful businesses in South Africa’s ICT sector.
These awards are highly respected within the local technology industry thanks to the comprehensive research and testing that goes into selecting the winners.
Candidates are chosen based on their range of offerings, the impact of their products and services on their clients, and the quality of their market offering.
The winners are South African ICT businesses that stand above their competitors in their respective categories – and Afrihost has impressively done this in two categories this year.
It won the 2025 ISP of the Year award thanks to its excellent customer satisfaction record.
Over the past decade, the ISP has made a continuous effort to improve its reputation in South Africa.
It climbed from eleventh in the South African ISP rankings in 2017 to second in October 2020, and was then crowned the ISP of the Year by MyBroadband in 2023.
It won the award again in 2024, and has now achieved a trio of successes.
By focusing heavily on offering aggressively-priced products and excellent customer service, Afrihost has ensured that it held onto its crown.
Winning the 2025 Hosting Provider of the Year award is a first for Afrihost, and highlights the company’s commitment to this range of products.
As suggested by the company’s name, Afrihost originally started out as a hosting business before entering the broadband sector.
When Afrihost launched its hosting services and company in 1999, hosting a website was prohibitively expensive in South Africa.
Existing industry players charged R550 per month for a basic hosting package, increasing the barrier to entry.
Three school friends were motivated to offer much cheaper web hosting services, and so Afrihost was born.
They launched a domain and web hosting package for only R150 per month, heavily undercutting the rest of the market.
Offering a competing service at a heavily discounted rate helped popularise web hosting in South Africa — and established Afrihost as a leader in South Africa’s hosting industry.
This has been recognised once again, with Afrihost winning the 2025 Hosting Provider of the Year award.
