Openserve appoints chief commercial officer

Telkom-owned Openserve has announced the appointment of Makgosi Mabaso as the fibre network operator’s chief commercial officer.

Her appointment was effective 1 January 2025, and she resumed the role after having held it between 2018 and 2019.

She replaces Phila Dube, who held the Openserve chief commercial officer role between April 2020 and November 2024. He left the position to take up a similar role at the Maziv group.

After departing the role at Openserve in February 2019, Mabaso took up a position in the Telkom Group CEO’s office, providing strategic support.

She most recently served as managing executive for Telkom Business and Home Solutions within the Consumer Business unit.

“She played a critical role in delivering customer-centric solutions and driving operational excellence,” says Openserve.

Mabaso holds a Practical Project Management qualification from the University of South Africa (Unisa) and graduated from the University of Witwatersrand’s Operations Management Development programme.

Additionally, she graduated from the Gordon Institute of Business Science’s Senior Management Development Programme, which focused on Information Technology, before completing her Master in Business Leadership through Unisa.

With extensive experience, deep industry knowledge, and proven leadership, Openserve says Mabaso is well-positioned to drive Openserve’s commercial strategy.

“I am looking forward to driving our One Telkom strategy by leveraging synergies within the Group,” says Mabaso.
