Why Afrihost has won Best ISP of the Year for three consecutive years

Afrihost has won the 2025 MyBroadband Award for Best ISP of the Year – marking the third consecutive time it has won this award.

This is an impressive achievement, as the MyBroadband Awards pit the best South African technology companies against each other across a wide range of categories, including:

  • Range of products and services
  • Quality of products and services
  • Customer satisfaction
  • Impact of products and services on customers
  • Innovation

Based on these criteria, winning the Best ISP of the Year award for three consecutive years shows that Afrihost has made a concerted effort to lead the local ISP sector.

How Afrihost won

Afrihost’s commitment to excellence has been evident since the company was launched in 1999.

It immediately disrupted the hosting industry, before shifting its attention to the ISP sector in 2009 with its new DSL product.

This product heavily undercut Afrihost’s competitors by offering more affordable per-GB pricing, forcing the rest of the industry to follow Afrihost’s lead and make Internet connectivity more accessible in South Africa.

This focus on delivering better experiences to its clients continues to this day, with recent standouts including its affordable Uncapped Pure LTE packages or the relaunch of its AirMobile MVNO service.

  • The Uncapped Pure LTE packages offer fibre-like speed to South Africans without access to fibre and doesn’t require a physical installation.
  • The AirMobile MVNO is one of the most affordable options for heavy data users in South Africa.

History of success

Afrihost’s three successive Best ISP of the Year award victories are proof of Afrihost’s meteoric rise over the past few years.

In 2017, Afrihost was ranked eleventh in MyBroadband’s South African ISP rankings, but quickly rose to second place by 2020.

Not satisfied with being the runner-up, Afrihost continued to improve its offerings, culminating in its first Best ISP of the Year award victory in 2023.

It has dominated the award ever since, but will not rest on its laurels – with big plans to deliver an even better customer experience in 2025 and beyond.
